A Bank Waste Porter collects waste from all areas within the Hospital. Waste collections include Confidential Waste, Hazardous Waste and Clinical Waste.

For this role you will require a full UK Driving Licence.

It is a physically demanding role which will include lots of walking and repeated lifting and pushing of heavy loads.

To segregate and dispose of household, confidential, hazardous and clinical waste in accordance with Trust Policy

The removal and safe storage of chemicals and specialist materials

To ensure appropriate contractors are available at all times, to maintain quality and delivery of service

To operate the Tugs in accordance with Trust procedures

To maintain and clean tugs and waste collection container

To maintain equipment used in course of dutie

To ensure that appropriate access to the waste hold/compounds is available at all times for waste contractors in order to maintain quality and delivery of service

To provide ad-hoc cover for the Grounds Person

To provide ad-hoc cover to help maintain a Portering service in all patient, public and staff area

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) provides good quality, safe and effective healthcare to the people of Cheshire and beyond. The Trust, which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, was established as an NHS Trust in April 1991 and became a Foundation Trust in April 2008.

The Trust is also part of Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP), a unique local health partnership that provides a range of community services for people across South Cheshire and Vale Royal.

During the Coronavirus pandemic, the Trust was recognised nationally for its Be Safe Be EquiPPEd campaign, which aimed to make the Trust as safe as possible for staff and patients, through supporting the correct use of PPE.

The results in the 2020 national NHS Staff Survey showed improvements in all elements of the safety culture theme, with 92% of respondents feeling their role made a difference to our patients. We were also recognised nationally for our workforce health and wellbeing initiatives.

Ensure they work in accordance with local procedures and report any issues which they consider to be a risk to the health and safety of themselves and/or others.

Act in accordance with the Trusts values and behaviours

Where applicable to participate in and provide data on the efficacy of treatment and specialties
