**Job description**

BSNI have a fantastic opportunity for Belfast City Council for a Labourer / Tyre Fitter.

**Hours**:6.30am - 8pm, 37 hours per week.

**Rate of pay**:£11.81 per hour basic, £23.62 per hour over time.

**Main purpose of job**

To be responsible to the Assistant Fleet Managers and / or other appropriate officers for the provision of an efficient and effective tyre-fitting service, and for the provision of general labouring duties within the workshop

**Summary of responsibilities and personal duties**

1. To repair punctures on all types of wheels and tyres, to change wheels and use air operated equipment for removal and repair on all vehicles and items of mobile plant as directed.

2. To observe, recognise and report promptly on any vehicle and component defects and symptoms of impending failure disclosed during tyre-fitting activities.

3. To provide as required all job-costing and time-recording information using the documentation provided.

4. To operate an emergency response puncture service including travelling to and from location of puncture to repair and jacking up/changing wheels on site for all vehicles and items of mobile plant as directed, and to ensure that the specialist tyre van is serviceable and is fully equipped for such emergencies.

5. To carry out periodic inspections of vehicles and mobile plant after completion of daily operations to ensure that wheels and tyres are serviceable and that tyres comply with current MOT requirements.

6. To wash and clean vehicles in preparation for Goods Vehicle Certification, and to drive prepared vehicles to and from the Vehicle Inspection Agency for testing.

7. To participate in a 24-hour callout service if so required.

8. To assist in the training of apprentices/trainees when required.

**Driving licence and experience**

a) possess a full, current driving licence that enables them to drive in Northern Ireland; and
