Maintenance Assistant

We are looking for the** Maintenance Assistant,** to provide effective maintenance assistance to the Maintenance and Production teams, maintain and service designated equipment, machinery and tools, and general maintenance tasks to support efficient running of factory.
**Salary**:£13.50 per hour
**Shift Pattern**: Tuesday
- Saturday 6am-3pm
**Key Responsibilities
**Complete daily checks**:
- Meters
- Soft water
- Boiler and boiler chemical system
- Refrigeration chemical system
- Plant rooms (this list is not exhaustive)
**Complete monthly checks**:
- Balancer
- Blood line roller shackle lubrication
- Assisting emergency lighting tests
- Vacuum levels
- General pump oil levels (this list is not exhaustive)
**Water treatment plant maintenance and cleaning, including**:
- Removal of valves and pipework, ensuring they are clean and free from scale and obstructions or sludge build up
- Check plant for air/water leaks, reporting/escalating any issues
- Cleaning plant and cess pool (this list is not exhaustive)
**Requirements**:
- Effective building maintenance to food safety standards, inclusive of building fabric repairs and pest proofing.
- Complete post-production daily gun and saw servicing/checks, ensuring they are safe for operation, removing from service if faulty/unsafe (informing Production
- Updating and maintaining all service and required daily records efficiently, raising any issues with the Maintenance Engineering Supervisors/Manager
- Effective communication with productions teams, providing timely updates on faulty equipment / down time etc
- Assisting Multi Skilled Engineers with Electrical and Mechanical routine checking of equipment, quality inspections and troubleshooting on the production lines and process, working to minimise down time as instructed
- Assisting Multi Skilled Engineers with Electro-mechanical repairs to high-speed, PLC-controlled plant, handling and packaging equipment, also pneumatic and hydraulic control systems as instructed
- Assisting Multi Skilled Engineers with Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Routines as instructed
- Co-operate and participate fully in training and development in cross-skilling and other job-related competencies
- Update the maintenance management system (CMMS), records of all changes, stores transactions made, and work carried out
- Be available to support and participate in rotating shift cover roster, including water treatment plant
- Any other duties as required by management and within the competency of the post holder
**Skills/ Experience**
- Suitable Maintenance experience essential
- Experience working in meat/food production environment preferred
- Proactive and “can-do” attitude essential - Sound understanding of integrity and compliance to relevant legislation and company processes/procedures
- Commitment to good practice
- Fluent English, communicates well in written and oral form with multi-nationals on all levels
- Ability to multitask and work under own initiative to deliver to deadlines
- Relationship builder with influencing skills
