You will protect public health by carrying out visits and inspections, primarily in relation to private water supplies, as part of our Environmental Protection & Enforcement Team.

You will be responding to service requests & complaints to ensure compliance with the relevant legislation, including the provision of information and advice and help with the enforcement of the relevant legislation. You will also be responsible for implementing a range of improvements in this area of work.

**As our Environmental Protection Officer you will**:

- Devise and implement an improvement programme for private water supplies, but also undertake proactive action to prevent environmental crime, pollution & nuisance. Dealing with allocated work in relation to Contaminated land, private water supplies risk assessments, water sampling, air quality/air pollution, prevention of damage by pests, general public health and anti-social behaviour legislation (e.g noise, community warning letters and action notices). Implement appropriate interventions in accordance with Council policies to rectify non-compliance.
- Service of letters and documents, including taking formal enforcement action.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other council services and partners, public, private and voluntary sector organisation to maximise effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery.
- Undertake and support project based work streams and initiatives, including production of all necessary documentation where required. This includes income generation work (such as training, consultancy and primary authority work, as well as partnership working opportunities)
- Provide legislative advice, information and training to customers and stakeholders.
