An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Twelve-month Fixed Term position as a Medical Secretary post within the Stroke department at East Kent Hospitals. This post is for 37.5 hours a week.

The post will either be at Kent and Canterbury Hospital or William Harvey Hospital, Ashford.

Previous NHS experience desirable.

Provide comprehensive administrative, clerical and audio typing support to consultants and their teams.

Work in a team based secretarial service providing support for each other and ensuring continuity of the service.

Act as first point of contact on behalf of the consultant and the Trust and deal effectively and courteously with all enquiries from GPs patients, other departments within the Trust and all other departments.

Assess all enquiries deal with effectively, and respond appropriately.

Transcribe from audio, copy type or shorthand (where appropriate), all clinical letters and other correspondence as required by the consultant and team, ensuring layout, spelling, grammar and punctuation is consistent.

Maintain a filing system that facilitates the effective running of the department.

Attend meetings as requested, taking minutes as appropriate.
