Homelessness Support Officer

Powys, United Kingdom Powys County Council Full time

**About the role**:
We have an opening for the position of Homelessness Support Officer.

The post holder will form part of a team dedicated to the prevention and alleviation of homelessness and will have responsibility for providing Assertive, Intensive support to persons who have approached the Council as homeless or threatened with homelessness.

Through an Assertive, intensive, psychological and trauma informed approach, the post holder will support a caseload of clients and enable clients to engage with appropriate support in order to prevent or relieve their homelessness. This will include assessing the level of support required to continue once the client is in settled accommodation to allow for a stable and successful housing outcome.

Persons presenting for help will often be vulnerable because of substance misuse and/or mental health issues and lead “chaotic” lifestyles requiring dedicated multi-disciplinary assertive support to find a suitable sustainable housing solution. The post holder will augment, complement, and support the statutory service to ensure available housing options, goals and reasonable steps to secure accommodation are reflected accurately in the clients Personal Housing Plan.

Given the often “chaotic” lifestyles and complexity of required interventions, this will include meeting people where they currently reside and liaising with other individuals (e.g., family members and landlords), and working closely with other agencies such as Social Services, police, substance misuse organisations, mental health services, probation services etc. Two of the roles will play an important role in further establishing Housing First within the County of Powys
