**Job summary**:
**Overview of Analysis in DCMS and CSDI**

As a relatively small department, analysts in DCMS have a high degree of responsibility and closer involvement with ministers and senior policy officials than in larger departments. Analysis in DCMS is based on a hub and spokes model with the Central Analysis Team providing analytical leadership and expertise.

The Cyber Security and Digital Identity Analysis team are currently a team of 10. We are a mixed analytical team comprising of Economists, Social Researchers and a Statistician. Our purpose is to ensure that evidence and analytical thinking is at the heart of policy making and evaluation by:

- Developing research and producing analysis that directly shapes policy decision making
- Continuing to establish and develop a robust evidence base
- Assessing, understanding and evaluating the likely and proposed effects of policy options and programmes.

**Job description**:
**The Cyber Security and Digital Identity Analysis team is looking to appoint a Cyber Analyst (GSR) to work across our Cyber Security Skills, Growth and Innovation portfolio.**

The post offers the opportunity to work on varied high profile Government policy that will shape the future of the UK economy. You will work within a high performing multi-disciplinary team and your analysis will ensure that robust evidence supports a wide range of ambitious initiatives.

The job holder will have a lot of responsibility and is expected to take a leading role in shaping the programme of work within their areas and to effectively collaborate with colleagues in the wider analytical team to ensure that effective analytical support is provided across CSDI. You will have the opportunity to work closely with policy colleagues and analytical colleagues from non social research or statistical backgrounds.

Your work will be key in helping us drive forward our evidence base and a key piece of this will be improving our understanding of skills, growth, and innovation in the UK cyber sector.

**Person specification**:
**We are looking for a motivated cyber analyst to**:

- Lead on the annual Cyber security sectoral analysis,
- Support the Growth and Innovation research and evaluation portfolio and work with policy colleagues and stakeholders to design and manage evaluations (both process and impact) for programmes such as Cyber Runway.
- Develop programme KPI’s, metrics, and Theories of Change across the Cyber Skills, Growth and Innovation portfolio.
- Support policy officials in identifying their evidence gaps and translating them into analytical questions for a directorate wide analytical strategy.
- Deliver quality assurance and support the development of an evidence base across the wider directorate.

- Ability to communicate analysis, evidence and concepts clearly to non-experts (such as policy makers)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to develop strong relationships and influence a range of stakeholders.
- Ability to deliver projects to tight deadlines, identifying risks and focusing on what matters to deliver a project.
- Ability to work effectively with others across your immediate team and those outside your team.

**Desirable Skills**
- Experience in designing and delivering surveys, including survey methodology.
- Experience in designing, scoping, and delivering evaluations.
- Knowledge of the technology and cyber security policy landscape.
- Ability to deliver high quality analysis to tight deadlines and influence policy design.
