The three elements of QPS are: Role Summary The post holder will be responsible for the admission, clerking and day-to-day care of patients on the Care of the Elderly wards and any outlying wards as required.

You will attend ward & board rounds and be responsible for the continuous care of patients as appropriate. You will be part of the GIM On-Call rota. This post provides an excellent introduction to Medicine for those seeking to further clinical experience following foundation or core training. There are opportunities to gain experience with complex patient groups including Frailty, General Medicine, Stroke and Palliative Care.

Learning is supported through regular educational activities and the post is well suited for those preparing for membership exams. Main Tasks and Responsibilities The role of the Trust Doctor is primarily to provide medical cover for the in-patients at Warrington & Halton NHS Foundation Trust Responsibilities will include admitting and assessing new patients, care for patients on the ward under the direction of the consultants (such as history taking, performing physical examinations,managing problems such as chest and urinary tract infections, organising investigations, communicating with patients and their relatives/next of kin etc), supporting the discharge process, maintaining patient records on Lorenzo/EPR/ICE. There are good opportunities to attend a wide variety of clinics and gain proficiency in a range of interventional procedures. Continuity of care and team-working are prioritised as teams of doctors, nurses and AHP staff look after patients from admission to discharge.

Personal and People Development To identify training needs for self with respect to keeping abreast of new technologies that will improve the delivery of the Stroke service. To undertake appropriate training courses as required. To undertake Trust mandatory training as required. This job description outlines the current main responsibilities of the post.

Risk Management All staff have a responsibility to report any risks and clinical and non-clinical accidents and incidents promptly and co-operate with any investigations undertaken.
