**Job overview**:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated, experienced and enthusiastic administrator/secretary to join our busy, friendly team in the Renal Medicine & Renal Surgical Team.

The post supports renal medical and surgical consultant teams, junior doctors, transplant coordinators and outpatients and will be an integral part of the admin support for these services.

The post holder will be required to provide secretarial support to the department working both as part of a team and on a one-to-one basis with a named consultant/s. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that renal patients in our care are actively monitored and supported through their care pathway. You will be required to organise and manage a very busy consultant workload which will include intensive diary and correspondence management amongst other tasks. You will have daily contact with patients over the telephone so an ability to communicate clearly and effectively is of paramount importance.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
All aspects of secretarial and personal assistant work. Be proficient in audio, copying typing skills. Have knowledge of IT packages. Good working knowlege of electronic systems. Excellent verbal communication skill inlcuding telephone manner. Be able to respond appropriately and calmly with the direct environment you work in. Patient and data confidentiality a priorty. Articulate, caring and sensitive attitude is required. Able to work in a team as well as on their own. This all should be done while observing the Trust targets and values.

**Qualifications**:
**Essential**:

- Good General Education (e.g. GCSE English and Maths A-C) GCSE Level 9-4
- Business Administration NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in a clerical environment

**Desirable**:

- AMSPAR Certificate/equivalent qualification or equivalent knowledge of medical terminology

**Experience**:
**Essential**:

- Experience of dealing with the Public/Customer service experience
- Experience of working with a range of Microsoft Office packages (eg. Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Experience of using IT systems

**Desirable**:

- Experience of working in a busy environment
- Experience of working in Healthcare
