Working for a global leader in the manufacturing of cabling for a variety of end user requirement, you will provide mechanical support to the Engineering Teams to enable efficiency across all machinery & facilities in the most cost-effective methods. Youwill fault find, diagnose & maintain machinery in order to maintain high levels of productivity & keep down time to a minimum, in line with regulatory and ISO standards.

**What will your day look like?**

You will carry out the most appropriate and effective repairs to mechanical plant in line with engineering standards and legislative requirements (ISO Standards etc.)
- Carry out test and inspection on mechanical plant in line with testing timetables
- Maintain stock spares to the agreed levels to provide continuous running of all essential mechanical plant and equipment.
- Support the Planned Preventative Maintenance system, ensuring actions are completed in line with requirements
- Assist in installation and maintenance of engineering projects
- Under the guidance of the Manufacturing Manager, you will contribute to engineering drawings and documentation.
- Assess the risks associated with all work carried out and take adequate precautions
- You will preserve product quality by considering the opportunities for product contamination and product failure; taking appropriate control measures to prevent defects occurring
- Strive for a proactive maintenance system to decrease reactive maintenance downtime

**Education**
- Minimum of HND/HNC in a relevant Engineering field with a Time served Apprenticeship.

**Experience**
- Operating in a fast-paced environment to challenging deadlines.
- Background in Manufacturing is essential, though experience in an electrical cable manufacturing environment would be a distinct advantage.
- Experience of mechanical maintenance, preferably in a heavy engineering environment
- Experience of tooling and bench work

**Skills**
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Strong MS Office, particularly Excel skills.
- Excellent problem solver.
- Can demonstrate the ability to prioritise, multitask whilst retaining attention to detail and accuracy.
- The ability to use AutoCAD is desirable.
- Self-motivated and flexible.

- To maintain a good standard of housekeeping within all working areas
- To support process improvements and be receptive to change and develop working practices within the Engineering team
- Handle materials safely, demonstrating the highest regard for the environment and our safety
- To adhere to the site Permit to Work system and follow all stipulated controls
- To have a good understanding of safety and environmental legislation and HSE compliance

The role is offered on a permanent basis & will cover shift patterns:
3 shifts: 06.00-14.00 hrs, 14.00-22.00 hrs and days 08.30-17.00 (Mon to Thurs) and 08.30-15.45pm (Fri). The role will rotate over a 3-week period alongside 2 other fitters.
