Although the role states home working as an option, this would be in the form of blended working. There is an expectation that the postholder will spend around 60% of their hours in the offices in Eastcote or in local schools, and the remainder of their hours from home. Note the salary listed is a full time equivalent salary, so actual salary will vary depending on hours agreed.

**Youth Support Worker - Mental Wellbeing Wanted**:

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate person to join our team as a **Youth Support Worker - Mental Wellbeing **for young people aged 12-25 years living in Harrow/Hillingdon and surrounding Boroughs. We know from previous post holders that this role is a great fit for someone with or on the way to a drama / arts / creative therapist qualification. Much of our work has a therapeutic backdrop, and we offer projects for therapists on a freelance basis as an additional offer to this role.

At CAAS. we are committed to providing individualised support, information, and advice to young people who have a diagnosis of ADHD and/or autism, or who are on the diagnostic pathway. Our mission is to empower them to explore their diagnosis, provide psychoeducational and emotional support, and connect them to relevant groups and local resources, ultimately enhancing their quality of life.

Terms: Permanent role

Additional project work may be available on an ad-hoc basis. Flexible hours, evening and weekend work may be required, and the work pattern may vary each week.

**1. Job Summary**

**Key aspects of the role are as follows**:
To provide individual support, information and advice to young people aged 12-25 years living in Harrow/Hillingdon and other neighbouring Boroughs. The young people needing support will have a diagnosis of ADHD and/ or autism or be on the diagnostic pathway. The work aims to help them explore their diagnosis, provide psychoeducational and emotional support and refer to groups at CAAS and locally, with the aim of improving quality of life.

To signpost where appropriate, and to be involved in facilitating groups and courses at CAAS and in the local area for young people.

To share best practice and appropriate reasonable adjustments to professionals, as well as to deliver peer assemblies and other activities that aim to raise neurodiversity awareness in a variety of communities, and increase autism and ADHD knowledge and acceptance.

**2. Key Responsibilities - Supporting ADHD and autistic young people**
- To develop relationships with young people based on respect and trust, ensuring they have a safe place to develop their identity and place in society.
- Mentor, coach and provide emotional support to young people in supporting them through the process of understanding their diagnosis and what that means to them, either in groups or on a one-to-one basis, or for those who need additional support in accessing their education, building self-esteem and encouraging greater social inclusion.
- Establish boundaries and explore challenges/differences.
- Work in partnership with families and other key people in the young person's life, as well as with professionals from other organisations involved with young people such as social care, health, police, education, youth offending teams and local authorities, in order to build a strong support network.

- Develop, with co-production, our youth resources and programmes where necessary.

**3. Key Responsibilities - Liaison and Consultation**
- Support professional organisations, particularly schools, FE colleges and SENCOs, in order to increase awareness and acceptance of ADHD and autism, and improve the environments in which the neurodiverse young people engage. This would include working in partnership with the families and young people accessing support to obtain the required positive outcome.
- Engage in co-production events, empowering and supporting autistic/ADHD young people to organise and take responsibility for developing activities, events and projects within the service.
