Job Purpose

The Project Support Officer reports to the PMO Manager and will be responsible for supporting the Project Manager in achieving the objectives of the Portfolio and Project Management function and ensuring that the project is delivered to time, scope, quality and cost.

This is a hands-on role and is suited to someone who is looking to become involved in change management.

This role is a FTC for 6 months to support a procurement project development and delivery. The project is already in flight.

Key Responsibilities

Perform Project Analysis to determine impacts and risk to current project delivery with the PM.

Support the project and portfolio reporting process, providing quality assurance and analysis on the reports to ensure and maintain a single source of truth, flagging areas of concern and inconsistency.

Understand and assist in the stage gate review process, quality assuring the deliverables before each gate, coaching, and supporting the Project Manager to ensure objectives are achieved and flagging areas of concern to the PMO Manager.

Creation and maintenance of key project documents in conjunction with the PM.

Participate in Lessons Learned sessions.

Monitor project controls, including plan, risk, issues, plans, finances, project changes, dependencies and ensure any areas of concern are flagged.

Provide information and support to the PMO Manager where required.

Core PSO activities such as producing board packs, taking and circulating minutes from board and ad-hoc meetings, logistics of setting up board and ad-hoc meetings.

Take a coaching and supportive stance to Project Managers, flexibility will be required in the support that is provided where applicable acting as a point of contact and support for PMO and governance process.

This description reflects the core activities of the role but is not intended to be all-inclusive and other duties within Group IT may be required in addition to changes in the emphasis of duties as required from time to time. There is a requirement for the post holder to recognise this and adopt a flexible approach to work. Job descriptions will be reviewed regularly and where necessary revised in accordance with organisational needs. Any major changes will be discussed with the post holder.

**Qualifications**:
Project or programme management methodologies such as Prince2/PMI/APM/MSP/Agile/P30 foundation or practitioner is ideal

Any other project management related qualifications are desirable, e.g. Risk Management, Microsoft Project, Excel etc.

SharePoint experience is desirable

Experience with Microsoft Project and Visio

Skills & Experiences

Experience working in a PMO team.

Must work to a high degree of accuracy with excellent attention to detail.

Knowledge and experience of Microsoft packages, including Project, PowerPoint, Word and Excel

Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and patterns.

Must take an analytical approach to problem solving
