**Job Description - Nursery Cook**
**Will consider Term time**
**Hours are
- 8 am-1pm**
Purpose of post
1- To provide a high standard of healthy nutritious meals within the nursery taking into account dietary and cultural requirements of the children.
2 - Adhere to company policies and procedures and complying with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health-Food Safety
3- Working in partnership with the Proprietor, manager and Deputy manager to ensure any and all duties appropriate to the post as directed by senior management
Key Areas
1- Liasing with and providing support to the Deputy, Manager, Proprietor and Directors of the nursery
2 - Team work
3 - Work with the children
4- Liaise with parents.
5-To comply with the safeguarding policy and Prevent Duty
6-High standards of cleanliness.

Duties and responsibilities
1 - Work in partnership with the Directors/Proprietor Manager and Deputy Manager to ensure the preparation of a balanced and healthy diet for the children, taking into account dietary and cultural requirements.
2- Adhering to Health and Safety and working within the guidelines of OFSTED /CCSIW and the national standards.
3 - Adhering to Company policies and procedures and complying with the Charted Institute of Environmental Health - Food Safety.
4- Ensure regular risk assessments and reviews are completed and any necessary actions are reported and action taken. To ensure that all equipment and utensils are safe to use by completing risk assessments daily inside and ensure all broken equipment/utensils are reported to management.
5- Observe the company dress code:
*Appropriate catering clothing to be worn on the nursery premises and laundered daily.
*Flat non slip enclosed footwear.
*Hair to be covered and tied back if long.
*Nails to be kept short; no varnish, false gel or acrylic nails.
*No jewelry with the exception of a wedding band.
6- Maintain allergy / dietary management systems in line with the company policy
7- Ensure all food substances are labeled. And adequately covered
8- Ensuring stock rotation and ensuring all stock is clearly labeled to include expiry dates.
9- Recording temperatures of fridge and freezer on a daily basis
10- Ensuring the effective and regular removal of waste materials to the designated skip.
11- Provide a positive role model to the staff team, support all staff to ensure the correct procedures are followed for the preparation and serving of food. Engage with other members of staff to create a positive and cohesive team.
12- Support/train staff to the safer food better business pack and to ensure they follow the correct procedures in line with nursery policies.
13- Ordering stock weekly in line with requirements ensuring any shortfalls are reported to management.
14- Attend regular training internal and external to maintain the nursery high standards.
15 - Work with parents of special needs children to give full integration in the nursery.
16- Staff must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
17 - Create and maintain a professional partnership with all parents and other family members.
18- Support management by developing and maintaining links within the local community to create a positive nursery profile.
19- Ensure all nursery policies and procedures are followed and complying with the children’s act of 1989 and 2004/2006.
20- Implementing the company Safeguarding policy/child protection policy and procedures.
21- To be involved with out of working hour’s activities e.g. training.
22 - To be flexible within the working practices of the nursery. Be prepared to help where needed, including undertaking certain domestic jobs within the nursery.
23- Work alongside the directors, proprietor, manager, deputy manager and staff team to ensure that the ethos and philosophy behind the project is fulfilled.
24- Recording accidents in the accident book
Ensure the manager /deputy has countersigned before the parent receives it.
25 - To respect the confidentiality of information received.
26- The care and welfare of the children are of paramount importance and it is your duty to safeguard them.
**27 - To be aware of the high profile of the nursery and uphold its standards at all times.**
**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 25 per week
**Salary**: £10.00-£11.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
