**The Role & Responsibilities**

The Financial Controls Manager will play an instrumental role in testing and shaping the internal controls environment across the Finance function of a growing bank.

Specific responsibilities will include:

- Undertake and/or co-ordinate required Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) within Finance to meet internal and external standards
- Devise and execute a tailored annual testing plan to review internal controls across Finance. Translate outputs from such reviews into constructive feedback and suggest improvements to relevant policies, procedures, and frameworks
- Report results to required committees and provide feedback and/or coaching to enhance performance of relevant teams
- Support the Finance teams with embedding the Group and Divisional Risk Management Framework
- Assist with the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for all risk activities within Finance
- Co-ordinate with 2nd Line and 3rd Line Quality Assurance teams and ensure Finance teams are aware and prepared for upcoming reviews
- Act as the point of contact for actions arising from 2nd and 3rd Line reviews, with responsibility for overseeing the completion of points raised, implementing remediation activities, and reporting to required committees
- Challenge outputs of 2nd and 3rd Line reviews where appropriate and be able to demonstrate sound reasoning
- Create risk reports required for internal reporting, including: the Business Continuity Plan and Business Impact Assessment, the Top Risk Profile for Operational, Conduct and Financial Crime Risks, and Risk Control Self Attestations
- Co-ordinate the compilation of evidence to support the Audit Committee approval of the Financial Statements in relation to fraud and controls attestation
- Manage action points raised by the external auditors, ensuring progress and responses are documented and points raised are closed in a timely fashion
- Support the Risk Management team in providing support, education, and training to the Finance teams on QA and QC related issues
- Ensure finance policies are updated in accordance with review deadlines and follow the correct approval governance

**The Person**
- Audit or risk background, with a clear understanding of risk related concepts and controls within Finance
- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Experience in the Financial Services sector is preferred; however, demonstration of transferable risk and controls experience in other industries will be considered
- Sound knowledge of Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes and gap analysis
- Familiar with key risk indicators, linking these to risks and controls
- Ability to translate findings into constructive solutions
- Ability to produce meaningful, concise reports at committee level
- High level of Computer proficiency (good knowledge of MS Office suite - Excel, Word, Power-Point, with relevant analytical software)
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Accurate and high attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a team and establish effective working relationships at all levels
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Undertakes appropriate activities to maintain competence for the role
- Able to work extended hours on occasions when required
- Able to travel to offices, when required
