The Language Centre is the University’s hub for all students and staff who want to improve their language skills. Our 2,000+ learners each year come from many nationalities and disciplines to take our courses, which run both online and in person, throughout the day and in the evenings.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated administrator to join our team. The Departmental Administrator is a senior and responsible position that offers the opportunity for varied and interesting work across a range of skill sets. The post is central to the effective leadership and management of this friendly and busy department, having both strategic and operational responsibilities. The Departmental Administrator is a member of the Senior Management Team and works closely with the Head of Modern Languages and the Head of Academic English. The post-holder’s responsibilities include preparing and monitoring the budget for the department; leading on all personnel, payroll and premises issues; and managing the administrative team which runs the communications and marketing of our courses, course timetabling, learner enrolment and on-course administration, fee payments from individual learners, departments/faculties and colleges, and reception. There are currently six direct reports.
The post is based at the Language Centre, at 12 Woodstock Road in central Oxford. The post is predominantly office based but there is some flexibility for home working, particularly outside of term time.
Interviews are expected to take place in person at the Language Centre during the week commencing 3 April.
