**Job summary**:
This is an exciting senior analytical post in the Cabinet Office’s Equality Hub. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting a range of gender, ethnicity and LGBT policy, focussed on the key priorities of the Government.

Working closely with policy teams in the Equality Hub, and across government, you will produce insightful, policy-relevant analysis. Ministerial priorities include the FTSE Women Leaders Review aimed at increasing the proportion of senior women in leaders in FTSE companies, gender pay gap reporting, and government task forces including the High Growth Enterprise Task force aimed at increasing the volume of enterprises founded by women.

You will also work on the Equality Data Programme which extends analysis across protected characteristics to include geography and social background. You will support the development of an equality data asset aimed at improving data linkage to increase data availability on equality issues.

**Job description**:
You will work on, and lead, projects with other analysts (statisticians, social researchers, and/or economists). This includes the development and delivery of statistical products and services across gender equality. It does this through matrix working with other analytical team members and other government officials including policy colleagues.

Current ministerial priorities include the FTSE Women Leaders Review, gender pay gap reporting and government task forces including STEM and inclusion at work. These projects aim at improving equality in the workplace including the kind of work people do, in the employment sectors they work and the seniority of the posts they work in. Other projects also look at improvements in pay, crime, education and other government policy areas.

The post holder will also be involved in supporting parliamentary teams focussed on briefing ministers and communications colleagues on analytical publications. The role works with other government departments, as needed, so that different government departments are aligned on work such as inclusion in the workplace.

Strong statistical skills that cover a wide range of analytical methods. The postholder must also be able to programme in order to deliver statistical outputs, automate analytical processes and quality assure other people’s work.

They should be able to deliver successfully across a number of projects simultaneously and meet short deadlines where required. The postholder will be required to communicate complex analytical ideas and results confidently to senior stakeholders, including ministers.

**Essential skills**:

- Strong statistical and programming skills, ideally but not necessarily in R, to support statistical methodology design, robust analysis and automation.
- Good communication skills to translate your results into meaningful action for a range of audiences.
- Excellent stakeholder skills such that you can work effectively with senior civil servants, minister’s offices, and external stakeholders across and outside of government.
- Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively to meet competing deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
