Eco-hub Coordinator

**Job Purpose**
The coordinator will work collaboratively with colleagues in Student Services, Estates (including our student sustainability team [GUEST]), Catering and Academia to oversee day-to-day operation of the Eco-Hub space and help to catalyse a broader culture of practical environmental action at the University.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
Reporting to the Sustainability Manager and working closely with our GUEST team, the Eco-Hub coordinator will:

1. Oversee day-to-day operational management of the Eco-Hub space, with responsibility for developing and maintaining a booking system for meetings, events and workshop activities.
2. Develop a communications strategy to promote Eco-Hub activity on campus and engage effectively with the staff/student community via appropriate communication channels (e.g. in-person events and social media)
3. Co-ordinate the food offering in the Eco-Hub, to include a community fridge service (in conjunction with the GUEST team), a Fairtrade coffee concession (in conjunction with Hospitality Services) and facilitate use of the space by the student food cooperative.
4. Ensure effective operation of a campus swap shop for clothing and homeware, working closely with both the GUEST team/Accommodation Services to both organise donations and promote the service across the campus.
5. Work in collaboration with the GUEST team to co-ordinate a weekly programme of repair sessions (e.g. bicycle and clothing repair) in the space, thus helping to foster a culture of repair and reuse on campus.
6. Develop metrics, gather data and collate reports for the Student Experience Committee, to help evidence the success of the projects described above.
7. Take the lead on developing additional opportunities for wider community engagement (i.e. outside of UofG) through use of the Eco-Hub space. Identify suitable partner organisations in the local community with potential to deliver related activity in the space and develop these relationships where there is likely to be mutual benefit.
8. Evaluate feasibility and develop an expansion strategy for the provision of similar activities at other UofG campuses (Garscube and Dumfries).
9. Work in collaboration with the GUEST team and the SRC to develop volunteering opportunities for students through use of the space.

**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience**
**Knowledge/Qualifications**

**Essential**:

A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role. Or: Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 7 (Advanced Higher/Scottish Vocational Qualification level 3, Higher National Certificate) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.
A2 Strong understanding of environmental/sustainability-related issues at both a campus and city/regional/national level.
A3 Knowledge of social justice issues, in relation to both UofG and more widely.

**Desirable**:

B1 Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate (in relation to the community fridge and coffee concession that we hope to run in the Eco-Hub).
B2 Recognized cycle mechanic qualification (in relation to bicycle repair sessions that we hope to run in the Eco-Hub).

**Experience**

**Desirable**:

F1 Previous work/volunteering experience in a repair/reuse context.
F2 Experience of delivering sustainability campaigns and activity.
F3 Coordination of donation drives.

**Terms and Conditions**
Salary will be Grade 5, £25,138 - £29,605 per annum.
This post is full time (35 hours p/w) and fixed term for up to 12 months.
