Public Health Dietetic Support Worker

The opportunity has arisen to employ a Dietetic Support Workers to work under the direction of the Highly Specialist Public Health Dietitian. They will deliver a brief interventions to patients at high risk of developing Diabetes.
Post holders will also deliver a range of community based initiatives; utilising a range of agreed approaches to support positive changes to food, nutrition, and physical activity behaviours. They will support the local delivery and evaluation of Nutrition Skills for LifeTM services.
All post holders will work to an agreed framework with a degree of autonomy and will be responsible and accountable for tasks delegated to them. This will involve having their own caseload and working productively with a range of partners and organisations in a complex community environment.
- To undertake necessary training on prediabetes, nutrition, motivational interviewing, and behaviour change strategies
- To work within GP practices to identify and engage with patients at risk of developing diabetes
- To support and assist the project team in the provision of comprehensive healthy lifestyles programmes
- To work safely and appropriately in an unsupervised capacity as part of the project team
- To plan and prioritise workload on a day-to-day basis under the supervision of the qualified staff
- To motivate, guide and encourage the community to participate in activities and monitor their progress during the programme and reporting findings to the relevant qualified staff member
- To contribute to the maintenance of adequate notes on client group or activity progress, with guidance from qualified staff
- To send relevant information to client groups as directed by the qualified staff.
- To be competent in the use of practical food resources
- To undertake the inputting of data into evaluation databases
- To participate in team meetings to discuss programme progress and ensure that feedback is given to relevant bodies or groups
- To respect and adhere to the code of confidentiality
- To promote and support clients’ rights, by promoting individual choice and respecting their beliefs
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
