**Payroll Job Description**

The Payroll Officer role is to provide a competent, effective and timely payroll function for the business. The Payroll Officer is required to process company payroll on a monthly or weekly basis, ensuring all information and records relating to payroll are up to date.

A Payroll Officer must be pro-active, organised and efficient to successfully support the business. Additional finance or HR responsibilities may form part of the role, depending upon the business.

Outlined below are a number of standard duties that this job role entails.

**Key responsibilities**:
Duties of a Payroll Officer can include any or all of the following:

- Process payroll as per company requirements
- Monthly / weekly payslips to be uploaded to our Sage online platform to be authorised by the client for publication
- Inform clients as per their individual requirements as to their PAYE liability and payment instruction
- Maintain payroll spreadsheets
- Ensure processes and procedures follow current regulations
- Respond and resolve queries from employees and management relating to payroll
- Calculate wages and deductions
- Liaison with HMRC
- Develop the payroll function to ensure it continues to meet business needs
- Calculate tax and NI commitments
- Set up and process new employees
- Inform clients as per their individual requirements as to their PAYE liability and payment instruction.
- Check hours and calculate overtime and holiday pay
- Process relevant paperwork
- Involvement with special situations such as maternity pay
- Administer accurate records for new starters and leavers
- To ensure all pensions contributions are processed accurately
- Processing and submitting and compliance documentation to the Pensions regulator including Auto Enrolment and Re-Enrolment submission to ensure compliance across the board.
- To update any pensions and auto enrolment spreadsheets to show transparency of all clients being compliant.
- Superb IT skills, including proficiency in data entry, Excel and Microsoft Office. Also, Sage Payroll is a key software along with Sage payroll online.
- Previous experience of NEST and the Pensions Regulator website would be preferable.
- Working knowledge of PAYE, SMP and NIC
- Focused and diligent, with excellent attention to detail
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role
- Ability to successfully communicate with people across the business

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: £23,000.00-£33,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 20 - 25 per week
