Enforcement Officer

The Enforcement Team is a small friendly and committed team of officers responsible for investigating and taking enforcement action relating to planning, highways and environmental enforcement issues and for monitoring planning controls and conditions.

The work of the team involves providing guidance and advice to residents and businesses, liaising with other Council services and external agencies and where appropriate, taking enforcement action including preparing and issuing formal notices, letters and documents and gathering and presenting evidence in court.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join the team. You will be responsible for investigating issues associated with planning permission, highway obstructions and wider environmental issues such as fly tipping and taking enforcement action where necessary, but we are particularly looking for someone with proven experience in planning or planning enforcement.

You must have at least 4 GCSEs (Grade C or above including Maths & English, or equivalent), be confident using computers with windows based operating systems and Microsoft Office products, have a full driving licence and be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the UK planning system, local authority highways functions and environmental enforcement functions. It is also desirable that you have a sound knowledge and experience of prosecution and enforcement processes. It is essential that you have a strong customer focus and have experience of providing excellent customer service.
