Job title: Gardener.
Directorate: Gardens Dept.
Function: To undertake gardening duties
Post reports to: Head Gardener.
Responsible for: All gardening duties.
**Responsibilities**:
Responsible for the care and cultivation of the gardens at Lartington Hall.
Assist with gardens at our local sister venues as required.
General maintenance of the grounds and repairs as necessary.
Accountable to: Head Gardener
**Horticulture**:
To undertake a comprehensive range of horticulture tasks to a very high standard. Under the general direction of the Head Gardener / Garden Designer.
Must have experience of Pedestrian, Ride on mowers and power tools.
Must have a relevant gardening Qualification NVQ level 3, City and guilds level 3
City & Guilds/ NPTC chemical spraying license (PA1 and PA6)
Experience of soft and hard landscape would be advantageous.
**Other duties include**:
- Planting and pruning.
- Indoor plants.
- Weeding the garden to a high standard.
- Wild flower meadows.
- Working well and safely with machines.
- Pond maintenance.
- Garden pest and disease control.
- Hedge cutting to a high standard.
- Good knowledge of machinery maintenance, to keep maintenance logs to improve the longevity of the garden equipment.
- Good plant knowledge.
- Ability to undertake a wide range of other garden tasks including any other duties as requested.
- Must be willing to travel to other venues as required
- Some weekend work is required from time to time.
- Also covering for other garden staff at the other venues.
**Health and safety**:
- Ensure that records are maintained with regard to health and safety audits/risk assessments/COSHH.
- Monitor of records for garden Audits and maintenance reports.
- Ensure compliance with statutory legislation.
- Ensure that best practice is demonstrated.
