About the role

We are looking for a Programme Controller who will be responsible for the delivery and overseeing of project controls functions across a variety of projects in a diverse team. You will be working closely with the Senior Project Managers and Project Controllers in a leadership role to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and consistency is developed across QinetiQ’s portfolio.

There is a diverse portfolio of programmes and projects you will have the opportunity to work on, ranging from highly classified intelligence, weaponry, maritime, aerospace, national security, and communications programmes.

This opening gives you the chance to join a talented and dedicated team focusing on the build-up of critical defence infrastructure and development projects. Due to the nature of the work the projects are stimulating and often challenging, working with a variety of internal and external stakeholder providing an excellent opportunity to build upon existing experience and leadership skills to further extend future career opportunities.

This lead role will be hybrid, based at QinetiQ’s site in Farnborough, and will support our businesses in across the UK.

What do I need?

Experience in some of the following areas would be desirable, but not essential.

Previous experience in Project Management Office (PMO)

In-Depth knowledge of research management and cost control

Experience of Stakeholder Management

Experience in Defence, Aerospace, Engineering or other related sectors

Please note that all applicants must be eligible for SC clearance as a minimum.

What will I be doing?

You’ll provide expert-level direction in the delivery of programme controls functions to the UK Defence business.

Engaging, mentoring and supporting the team in their career development and providing guidance that enables the transfer of learning into effective practice for the team

Directing, instructing and supervising the teams in the delivery of project controls functions to the business in accordance with the PMO Strategy and QinetiQ Operating Framework

Developing and maintaining regular, open and positive lines of communication within the team, with the leadership, programme and project teams and other key delivery partners

Risk, Negotiation, HR and Conflict Management throughout the project lifecycle

Maintenance of all appropriate reporting needs in support of project and programme delivery

Leading by example, communicating purpose and expectations, developing and motivating the team, creating inclusivity, participation and involvement and encouraging innovation and creativity

Undertaking tasks and activities, as required, in the delivery of project controls functions to the business in accordance with the PMO Strategy and QinetiQ Operating Framework

Promoting the wider public good in all actions and acting in a morally, legally and socially appropriate manner in interactions with stakeholders and members of the organisation
