Introducing ourselves

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Housing Standards Team for a Senior Housing Practitioner. The successful applicant will help supervise staff and provide managerial and technical support in relation to the team’s activities in inspecting private residential accommodation and implementing the Council’s Housing Licensing Schemes which include Selective Licensing, Mandatory (HMO) Licensing and Additional (HMO) Licensing schemes. The role will focus primarily on the housing standards and associated enforcement activity in Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO).

Job requirements

We are keen to appoint an enthusiastic, forward thinking, and self-motivated individual with previous experience in housing inspection and housing enforcement, especially in relation to HMOs.
- Providing specialist technical advice/knowledge in relation to the functions of the team with a focus on the inspection and enforcement of housing standards within HMOs.
- Enforcement of relevant legislation, provide advice to businesses, tenants, occupiers, owners and other customers, relevant to all of the responsibilities of the team, under the general direction of the Team Manager.
- To provide support to the Team Manager to lead and manage the functions performed by the Housing Standards Team, to deliver the service outcomes for the team.
