**Salary**:£10.36 per hour if you hold a NVQ/QCF Level 2 Playworker/Social Care qualification or £10.16 per hour if you do not have these qualifications.

**Location**:Neath Port Talbot

**Contract/Hours**:Permanent - Part Time - 9 - 18 hours per week - after school and Saturdays

**A bit about the role**

Swansea Short Breaks allows children to enjoy a safe, meaningful experience and an opportunity has arisen for a Community Short Breaks Worker to join our dedicated, friendly, warm and professional team.

The Community Short Breaks Project provides support to children and young people with disabilities. This includes support to access community-based activities in small groups, activities at the project base or caring for a child in their own home (domiciliary care).

You will be required to case manage files for these young people and develop positive relationships with their families and other professionals as well as attend training, team meetings and take part in supervisions within the day.

**How you'll help to create brighter futures**

Community Short Breaks Workers work directly with children and young people in this service. You will make a difference by:

- Maintaining a safe, stimulating, fun and caring environment, whilst supporting the young people to develop independence and social skills.
- Helping them access the onsite facilities, whilst accompanying them to activities and outings to nearby beaches and attractions.
- Managing case files for the young people and develop positive relationships with their families and other professionals
- Attending training, team meetings and take part in supervisions within the day.

Our job description for the Community Short Breaks Worker outlines the requirements of the role but the ‘must-haves' are:

- QCF Level 2 Health and Social Care or be willing to work towards this
- A commitment to working on a 24-hour shift rota pattern, which includes evenings, night working, weekends, and some bank holidays.
- Experience of working with children and young people.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Registration or willingness to register with Social Care Wales (support will be provided)
- Being responsible for Safeguarding of the children and young people
