Job Introduction
A fantastic opportunity to appoint another dynamic and high performing individual to work in the new role of Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) Practitioner.

Following Staffordshire’s EBSA model, you will work closely with other EBSA practitioners, schools, families, education welfare officers, educational psychologists and other agencies to support reintegration into school for individual children, who are unable to attend school for medical or mental health reasons.

This position will cover the double district of Cannock Chase and Lichfield.

This is a full-time fixed term contract with a current end date of 31.8.2024 and so you should be available for a January 2024 start.

Main Responsibilities
You'll need to:

- Be passionate about education and have a desire to work with children who are unable to attend school for medical or mental health reasons.
- Work with Educational Psychology and Education Welfare staff to ensure schools, parents and professionals are adhering to the EBSA model of working and identify any barriers or areas of development.
- Promote good home school communication and ensure that the child maintains contact with their school and peers while not in school and support with planning for reintegration back into school.
- Support schools in undertaking EBSA assessments and interventions to embed it as good practice within our schools.
- Support with group work and deliver direct work on an individual basis

Every day you will be meeting with families, schools and professionals, attending meetings in school and undertaking home visits.

You will be part of a larger team focussed on supporting school attendance and inclusion for children in Staffordshire’s schools. You will manage a group of individual children and will benefit from a robust training offer professional and personal development through personal supervision and group supervision.

You will have:

- Great personal skills to be able to build strong relationships between families, schools, health professionals and social care professionals to raise awareness of strategies and find opportunities for them to work together to support the children
- The ability to work well on your own as well as part of a team.
- Resilience and confidence in contributing to parenting assessments, supporting with mediation, crisis prevention and conflict resolution
- To have effective IT and literacy skills, to support the completion of accurate documentation, reports and records relating to work undertaken with children, young people, and their families.
