The Division are seeking to recruit to a Matron post with responsibility for Gastroenterology within Royal Sussex County and Princess Royal Hospitals.

The matron will focus on the provision of high quality, visible and professional leadership for this specialist area. You will be accountable for setting and maintaining standards of clinical excellence, improving outcomes and the patient experience. You will;
- Demonstrate compassionate, inclusive, visible, and authoritative leadership to Ward/Department Managers to ensure high quality patient centred clinical care is delivered.
- Support patient flow in order to treat patients effectively and efficiently.
- Ensure nursing practice reflects current clinical developments and is evidence based and ensure lead on the improvement of nursing standards.
- Work collaboratively in developing, leading, and facilitating a seamless patient pathway through the service.
- Respond promptly to patient complaints and support investigation of incidents and sharing of learning.
- Deputise for the Head of Nursing as required and represent the Division at designated meetings.

You will need to be flexible and resourceful as you support the services in collaboration with the Consultants, managers and senior nursing teams. The matron will work in the Abdominal Surgery and Medicine Directorate, reporting to the Directorate Lead Nurse. They will work closely with their other Division of Surgery matron colleagues and senior nurses and in collaboration with the gastroenterology operational manager and clinical lead.
