Communications Producer

**Key Responsibilities**
The Communications Producer is a key member of our year-round team, supporting festival communications across all channels, online and in print, for the festival and DocFest’s charitable activities. Acting as a brand guardian for the festival, the role ensures our messaging is clear, consistent and accessible, and works collegially with programme and community teams to maximise our engagement and outreach to all festival audiences.
**Communication Channels**
- Compile and copy-edit regular e-news for public and industry audiences, ensuring key opportunities and information is shared, festival tone of voice and style is consistent and accessible, and the festival is perceived as active and industry-relevant year-round
- Generate and coordinate social media - sharing content, promoting upcoming opportunities and activities, adding our voice to relevant industry and community conversations, live tweeting from events, and engaging with and responding to followers, in line with the charity’s objectives
- Promote the festival’s call for entries, including for the film, alternate realities, talks and marketplace programme, building on relationships with peers at relevant organisations
- Create engaging digital content/assets for our communications channels in accordance with the festival content strategy
- Working across departments, coordinate Sheffield DocFest’s website, ensuring user navigation is clear and information is up to date across all pages
- Act as a brand guardian for Sheffield DocFest, ensuring the charity is represented by correct branding and logo on all digital platforms
- Work with the Press team to amplify press assets and coverage, making the most of original editorial content and signposting relevant contacts and opportunities
- Research and suggest new / trending communication tools to future proof festival communications and maximise our outreach and engagement
- Collate and analyse analytics from the communications campaigns, reporting on successes and suggestions for next time and supporting required festival reportingEvents, Outreach & Audience Engagement
- Actively participate in regular Programme and Editorial and Audience Development working groups and meetings
- Coordinate advisory feedback sessions with festival Local Advisory Group, in collaboration with colleagues in programming and community team
- Research and engage relevant partners for communications and community outreach events year-round, promoting films, projects, talks, activities, and relevant opportunities, building and maintaining meaningful contacts and networks
- Support promotion of year-round audience building initiatives, in collaboration with colleagues in programme and community team
- Coordinate Local stakeholder events, programme launch and other promotional campaign events; issuing invitations, collatings RSVPs, branding and setting up the venue and greeting guests
- Provide support at live and online events, including but not limited to securing stills & video, publishing updates and narrative during live events, securing assets where relevant
**Assets and Publications**
- Provide a key point of contact with the festival’s designer/s, issuing briefs, relaying feedback and monitoring progress against deliverables
- Design any further required banners, adverts, and graphics as part of campaigns and partner deliverables, utilising the given templates
- With the publications editor and programme team, support the production and distribution of publications, including the editing, formatting and proofing processes
- Ensure appropriate and effective distribution and dissemination of festival publications and advertising materials
**Festival Delivery**
- During the festival the Comms team is expanded to include short term roles of assets project manager (comms lead), a communications coordinator, communications assistant and volunteer social media and photographer roles. Communications is also supported by an external publications editor and external PR agent/agency._
- Together with the Festival Communications Lead and Festival Communications Coordinator, deliver the Communications plan for Sheffield DocFest editions through web, social media, e-news and partner outreach
- Activate existing festival partnerships and media partnerships on our digital platforms
- Research and liaise with local organisations who are able to offer a discount for attending audience
- Generate and implement new ideas to creatively publicise festival passes and tickets in order to increase sales and diversify audiences
- Directly target and promote DocLover ticket offer to local organisations to maximise group ticket sales
- Support the press office by collating press assets and assisting with press enquiries where required
- Create cinema slides, liaising with production team to convert to DCP, and deliver to appropriate venues;
