Full-time but will include some early evening work, occasional weekends and residential trips -- There is also a requirement to be available to work until 8pm on, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays

Status: Fixed Term Contract

£27,000 to £32,000 (Full-time pay) dependent on experience

**Context**

ML Community Enterprise (MLCE) work with the young people and communities of the

Coldharbour Ward and surrounding areas of Lambeth. We run a Youth and Community

Centre where we provide safe spaces for young people to explore and enjoy activities which enhance their development and confidence. We help create a sense of pride, inspiration, ownership, well-being and belonging. We also offer a range of holistic services that include targeted and co-produced therapeutic projects around crime trauma, bereavement and loss, mental health, reducing offending, and employability support, providing a platform for young people and communities to create new and positive identities for themselves.

You will be part of our Youth Service Team that works holistically to improve outcomes for young people and their families that is mindful of, and promotes MLCE’s Vision, Mission, Values and strategic aims.

**Job Purpose**

To work alongside the Youth Service Manager to develop and deliver structured open access and occasional targeted youth sessions to young people aged 11-19 (25 with SEND) years at the Marcus Lipton Centre in Brixton. Working on own initiative under the delegated responsibility of a line manager as appropriate, with responsibility for ensuring positive outcomes and targets as agreed.

**About you**

You are passionate about the development of young people and the power of community to connect and support people, and you like to work in collaboration with others. You have demonstrable experience of working as a Youth Work Lead. You’re flexible, accountable, take responsibility, are highly organised and skilled in multitasking and balancing priorities. You must have the right to work in the UK.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Model excellent youth work skills, time management, and best practice to all within the team
- To work directly with young people 13-19 (25 with SEND) to enable their personal development and social education by assisting in the development and delivery of structured open access and occasional targeted youth sessions.
- To plan, deliver and evaluate activities delivered within youth sessions, booking external providers to lead sessions where required.
- To establish and build relationships with young people in order to design, deliver and continually evaluate youth sessions that will contribute to meeting the identified needs of young people.
- To be aware of Service targets and outcomes and ensure that the youth sessions make a positive contribution to achieving them.
- To encourage, motivate and support staff, students and volunteers.
- To carry out relevant day to day administration in support of the smooth running of the

Service and the procedures of MLCE
- To monitor and maintain standards of work to ensure appropriate quality assurance including supporting other workers in achieving positive outcomes.
- Manage relationships with local youth work providers, schools, corporate partners and work experience providers, as well as parents of beneficiaries, to ensure project outcomes and outputs are met
- Demonstrate excellent teamwork, working closely with other youth workers and apprentices
- Manage and oversee new and existing relationships with key stakeholder and corporate partners for company visits and work experience opportunities.
- Champion Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) encouraging positive action and change through the implementation of a local action plan that supports our overall aims within EDI.

**REPORTING**
- Ensure that data collection is completed on time using MLCE’s database system

(VIEWS), and use this to continually asses where improvements can be made to the project;
- Monitor and report the projects outcomes and outputs in line with approved plans and budgets, and required standards and practices.

**SAFEGUARDING**
- Ensure that all projects are operated and delivered in accordance with agreed health and safety, equal opportunities, and safeguarding policy and procedures
- To ensure that you and any staff you are responsible for are taking positive actions to safeguard young people they are in contact with, and follow policies and procedures around safeguarding appropriate to their level of post
- Ensure partnerships are working and enabling work experience placements within health and safety, equal opportunities, and safeguarding policy and procedures.
