**JOB TITLE**: Assistant Technical Officer

**GRADE**: Band 3

**ACCOUNTABLE TO**: Senior Specialist Audiological Scientists

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Audiology Service 0.6 WTE (22.5 hours per week) part time 3 years fixed term role to start as soon as possible. Salary: Band 3 Agenda for Change placement on band depending on experience, plus London Weighting (20% salary annually pro rata)

This is an opportunity to join our busy and friendly multi-disciplinary team, and to assist in providing technical support to patients within the Adult Audiology Centre and the Hearing Implant Centre.

We are seeking a highly motivated person with excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills, as well as the ability to work on their own initiative. Experience dealing with the public and experience in a care setting is desirable.

The successful applicant will work with Audiological Scientists and more widely with members of the multi-disciplinary team supporting patients to maintain and effectively use medical devices for hearing. Full training and support will be given to use clinical device programming software.

There is active and ongoing research and audit within the service and participation in the development of the service is encouraged.

The post holder will monitor and maintain stock levels of hearing devices, hearing implant systems, accessories, and consumables. The role involves providing technical support to patients to optimize device use, dealing with the repair of medical devices. This includes trouble-shooting device faults, liaising with manufacturers and suppliers, keeping of accurate records of transactions and medical records and gathering information for response to medical queries.

Department Information

The post holder will work closely with staff in the Adult Audiology Department at Guy's Hospital, and also the Ear Nose and Throat department across Guys hospital and St Thomas’ hospitals.

Job Summary

The post holder will monitor stock levels of hearing devices, accessories, and consumables, and order replacements as necessary. Additionally the post holder will deal with the repair of equipment. This includes troubles-shooting, and also the dispatch of faulty equipment to companies for repair, as well as the keeping of accurate records.

Check hearing devices, to assess appropriate function; re-programme and replace as necessary
