We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our close, friendly team as a Veterinary Administration Assistant. The Kirkby branch of Barn Lodge is a small, family run veterinary practice where no two days are the same. At this fast paced practice, the ability to adjust to changes during the day is vital. The main focus of the role will be assisting with day to day admin tasks to ensure the smooth running of the practice. However, there will be times during your working day where you will be required to assist the clinical team with animal care duties; therefore, it is essential that you are comfortable with animal handling.
- Your average day will consist of the following:_
- Admitting animals that are booked in for a procedure. This will involve going through consent forms, weighing the animal and settling them into a kennel.
- Answering incoming calls in a polite and friendly manner.
- Checking in clients at the reception desk.
- Dispensing medication that has been prescribed by a vet.
- Arranging, booking and amending client appointments.
- Processing referral and laboratory reports.
- Processing payments from clients relating to their pets treatment or prescriptions.
- Managing charity accounts, producing and processing invoices.
- Liaising with other veterinary practices.
- Managing multiple inboxes.
- Carrying out a thorough daily clean of the practice.
- Assisting the nursing team as and when needed.
- Skills and Experience:_
- Previous work in a similar role is desirable but full training will be given.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, to multitask and prioritise jobs.
- Good computer literacy.
