Underwriting Assistant, Property

We are looking to employ an Underwriting Assistant to be based in London and to work with us on a full-time basis.

What we are looking for

You to provide accurate and high-quality administrative services to the Property D&F and Binder underwriting teams, and other teams as required, demonstrating care for customers and respect for the regulatory obligations of the Company.

The Role
- Accurate and timely data entry of all Property risks in line with Syndicate procedures
- Ensuring documents are entered onto systems for peer review and bordereaux management
- Working with Insureds, Coverholders and brokers to ensure timely provision / submission of risk, premium, aggregate and claims data, facilitating onward transmission to Delegated Authority, Actuarial, Claims and Exposure Management Teams and TPA’s
- Chasing and collating property information for new and renewal business and where appropriate working with other teams
- Maintaining renewal lists and chasing brokers for renewing risks and system-generated queries and exception reports
- Slip and data entries, and document loading to Subscribe, shared drive folders, BLT and other systems
- Managing the contract certainty checklist
- Updating quote engines
- Managing/monitoring PPL Placement, risk management surveys, credit control and aged debt
- Preparing reports for Property Team meetings
- Regular provision of management information and analysis of accounts
- Prepare documentation packs for quarterly meetings, renewal, audit and underwriting file reviews.
- Coordinating diaries and arranging meetings
- Providing support in respect of new projects or initiatives as and when needed
- Pricing and rate monitoring of open market and binder business
- Working with the Property and Actuarial Teams to ensure accuracy and functionality of pricing tools
- Reviewing and checking wordings/clauses when required
- You are required to comply with the PRA and FCA conduct rules.

Knowledge and Skills
- Basic (Level 1) knowledge and understanding of the:

- Underlying Principles of Insurance;
- Legal Principles;
- FCA, PRA and Lloyd’s rules and regulations, including conduct risk and contract certainty issues;
- Lloyd’s insurance market;
- Property risks D&F open market and/ or binder business.
- Able to demonstrate clear understanding of all company specific procedures that relate to own role;
- Able to demonstrate growing understanding of the roles of colleagues and their relationships to the structure and business plans of the firm;
- Willingness to continue to develop knowledge of policies and related issues through formal and informal learning, both internally and externally to the firm
- Be aware of the potential risks facing the business within own job role and the controls that are in place to mitigate them; and report all significant changes in these risks, or the effectiveness of controls, to your line manager in a timely manner.
