We are looking to recruit to our friendly established hard-working Income and Collections team.

With responsibility to collect Council Tax, National Non-Domestic Rates and Housing Benefit Overpayments.

Duties for the Income & Collections Advisor will be:

- To maximise the income by ensuring the appropriate recovery action is taken against non-payers and to improve on collection rates and to support customers to find sustainable ways to meet their debts with the Council.
- To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of Council Tax/National Non-Domestic Rates recovery legislation and related policies and procedures.
- To undertake the administration for the recovery of Council Tax/National Non-Domestic Rates initiating recovery action in accordance with legislation and Council policy including issuing of summonses, attachment of earnings, referring cases to external enforcement agents and the issue of liability orders and charging orders.
- To deal with enforcement agents returned cases and make decisions on the next course of action.
- To attend court to support the Court officer deal with debtor’s enquiries.

We are looking for an individual who has strong communication and negotiation skills, as well as have the ability to make difficult decisions showing tact and diplomacy. You will be handling calls from customers, agreeing repayment plans, following up on agreed actions and taking recovery action when required. Proven ability to work on your own initiative to achieve deadlines and to use your own discretion and judgement will be essential. Strong organisational and time management skills along with strong attention to detail is required.

This position will be based at our main offices in Narborough with hybrid working available when full training has been completed.

This role will require a basic Disclosure and Barring Service check (known as a DBS check). All offers of employment will be made conditional upon receipt of the satisfactory DBS check.
