**The Company**

A manufacturer of vehicle grease filled looms for a large producer of automatic lubrication systems, fluid management and safety support systems. Their second site manufactures high quality bed frames and components for luxury bed manufacturers.

**What is the purpose of the Head of Manufacturing role?**

Responsible and accountable for manufacturing functions to include people and budgetary management and for achieving operational excellence.

**What will be the responsibilities of the Head of Manufacturing?**
- Responsibility for implementing manufacturing strategy and strategic operational goals to satisfy customer expectations for product quality, cost and delivery, maximising efficiency and driving operational excellence
- Identify, develop and realise new business opportunities to secure growth and financial security of manufacturing operations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction.
- Accountable for the day-to-day operational activities of manufacturing sites.
- Lead operations to achieve excellence introducing and developing lean manufacturing techniques.
- To maintain accreditations FSC, ISO 9001 as required.
- Responsible for developing the appropriate organisational structure, resource plans and culture to support the business objectives and customer deliverables.
- Establish strategies and best practice for staff development to ensure achievement of overall business objectives.
- Work with the manufacturing team to translate site strategies into specific annual performance goals and departmental objectives including specific targets, and to monitor them.
- Provide leadership, coach, mentor and develop direct reports and manage a high performing team that delivers continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions.
- Set objectives for and monitor ongoing progress of reports via regular performance reviews and annual appraisals.
- Manage attendance and holiday as appropriate.
- Responsible for budget setting, monitoring and financial performance for manufacturing operations.
- Report on Manufacturing activities on a regular basis to PLT/Heads of Service, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of relevant Key Performance Indicators.
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators, as required by PLT, across all areas of the Manufacturing function to ensure that all projects are delivered on cost and on time to the highest quality standards.
- To maximise the employment opportunities for people with disabilities and long-term health conditions.
- Ensure that Environmental, Health and Safety, manufacturing and quality standards and procedures are adhered to.
- Accountable for own professional development and undertake necessary training as identified in the Performance Review process.
- To handle personal data in accordance with the organisation's data protection policy.
- Adhere to the company’s policies and procedures always, including Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities, Quality, Health and Safety and IT.
- To undertake any other duties, as required, appropriate to the post

**What skills and experience will the Head of Manufacturing have?**
- Demonstrable experience of leading a manufacturing function with a proven track record in strategic manufacturing leadership delivering effective manufacturing strategies, policies, processes and systems
- Proven experience of motivating a workforce and/whilst setting targets for employee development
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience or a relevant engineering/manufacturing discipline or equivalent NVQ level 5 qualification
- Fully IT literate in using a range of Microsoft Office programs to include 365 products and modern digital technologies, i.e. Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business
- Experience of working in a target driven environment
