Mental Capacity Specialist Practitioner
The purpose of the Mental Capacity Specialist Practitioner role is to raise awareness and provide increased support for staff to assist the UHB in achieving compliance with the Mental Capacity Act.
As part of the MCA Team the post holders will work to develop and embed systems and processes to support staff with capacity assessments, best interests meetings and other MCA requirements. They will develop, implement and monitor the impact of an MCA implementation strategy and any related policies and procedures and provide training to staff of all levels and disciplines.
The role will involve working across UHB sites in order to provide hands on support to clinical staff. The successful applicants will be dynamic and self motivated, with a passion for safeguarding vulnerable individuals.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for two full time Mental Capacity Specialist Practitioners to join the Mental Capacity Team within Safeguarding.
The successful applicants will help to support the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) agenda across Cardiff and Vale UHB by providing staff with expert support, information, training and guidance on issues relating to the MCA. They will also assist in raising awareness and providing support and guidance as part of the implementation of the Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS), which are due to replace the Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards (DoLS).
The role requires collaborative working and the development of effective multi-disciplinary and multi-agency relationships with partner agencies.
Whilst training and professional support will be available, applicants require an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the MCA with experience of working within a complex health or social care organisation.
The successful applicants will play an important part in helping to shape the new role and ensuring that UHB meets it's statutory obligations.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
