- Where is this vacancy based?_
This vacancy is based in Rawtenstall.
- Who do you support?_
We support 1 lady and 2 gentlemen who have learning disabilities.
- Where do they live?_
The property is a 4 bedroom bungalow in a residential area near to the small town centre. There is a garden at the rear of the property and a small garden to the front with a parking space. The house is on a bus route but is easily reached from the bus station on foot.
- What would a typical shift be like?_
The day starts by supporting them with their personal care and there are plans in place to describe how to do this. Then staff prepare breakfast before looking in the house diary to see what is on the agenda for the day. This could be dropping one of them off at the day centre, supporting another to a GP appointment, taking one shopping etc; each day is unique. You will then assist the tenants with their regular medication, cook well balanced meals and support them to go to bed at night time.
- What activities do the people that we support at this property like to do?_
All three tenants like to do in house activities and also like going out into the local community or to their day centres. There are mobility vehicles at the property for day trips out. In addition, 2 of the tenants like to go to restaurants or to the local town for shopping and going into cafes.
We have a mobility car at the property so ideally we would like someone who can drive. The residents love good home made cooking.
- What is the team here or is it lone-working?_
Mostly there is more than one staff member on duty, but during the quiet times of the day, having 1 staff member is sufficient.
- What are your shift patterns?_
Sleep ins are 22.00 to 07.00. Day shifts vary from short days i.e., 9-4 or longer days like 09.00 until 10 pm. There is a planned rota a few weeks in advance for staff to view.
- Please note our Support Workers are contracted by area therefore flexibility is essential to work in other services where required._
