**Job Summary**
Provide direct technical support to Valaris rig teams and operations management. Is accountable to ensure subsea and surface well control equipment (and associated equipment) is fit for purpose and properly maintained. This is accomplished through the strategic deployment of rotating Vector maintenance teams, analyzing data to make recommendations that optimize equipment performance, effective planning, and execution of between well maintenance activities by providing tactical support to maintenance and repair projects.
**Principal Duties and Responsibilities**
- Monitors the daily reports from each rig within the region and provide support as required.
- Involved with well control equipment maintenance, replacement planning, and implementation.
- Assesses the competencies of direct reports and work with them to enhance required competencies.
- Reviews rig maintenance performance against performance measures; establishes initiatives with the team to achieve goals and objectives.
- Develops and implements mechanisms to achieve effective communication, coordination of effort, information flow, and learning with direct reports.
- Ensures a high level of productivity, teamwork, and employee satisfaction within the well control vector team.
- Ensures effective communication with rig management and offshore personnel.
- Plans and executes the deployment schedules for rotating Vector teams and Well Control Trainees in the region.
- Provides operational/troubleshooting support to rigs on downtime.
- Assists with troubleshooting and repair of equipment directly or through Vector teams.
- Plans and executes technical audits or assessments of equipment and subsea personnel.
- Liaises with OEM’s and vendors as required to assist troubleshooting and repair efforts.
- Provides direction to facilitate decisions on priorities of repairs and preventative maintenance activities.
- Reviews rig maintenance performance against objectives; establishes initiatives with the team to achieve goals and objectives.
- Routinely reviews maintenance plans in Valaris Asset Management System (VAMS) and makes improvement recommendations.
- Ensures through periodic checks that general maintenance, operation, and repair records and documentation are kept accurate and up to date.
- Communicates critical and reoccurring equipment failures to the Corporate Well Control Group for OEM workgroup discussions and technical solutions.
- Reviews OEM bulletin and Company Alerts and tracks action list as needed.
- Monitors repairs and rebuilds to ensure they are performed properly, safely, and economically.
- Actively participates in equipment failure investigations, related to well control and associated equipment in the region.
- Facilitates the sharing of lessons learned amongst the rigs in the region and wors with the Corporate Well Control Group to ensure lessons learned are shared across the fleet via Maintenance Alert, Technical Support Notice, and Quick Shares.
- Reviews equipment failure reports in the Rapid S53 database, submitted by rigs in the region, to ensure reports are complete and accurate prior to approving reports.
- Availability and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
**Qualifications / Education**
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university preferred as well as technical education in mechanics, hydraulics, or electrical field.
- Must have a valid passport for travel.
- Able to successfully complete all required safety training programs, including but not limited to underwater safety, firefighting, and helicopter underwater escape, Sea Survival.
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug screen(s).
- Five (5) or more years as Field Support Supervisor - Subsea or equivalent position, plus five (5) to ten (10) years in an offshore subsea role such as Sr. Subsea Engineer.
**Skills & Experience**
- Ability to gather and analyze data for decision making.
- Demonstrated effective leadership and influencing skills and practices.
- Physically capable of being transported to an offshore rig by boat or helicopter.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Committed to a high standard of safety and to comply with all safety laws and all the employer’s safety policies and rules. Must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.
- Effective communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Excellent conflict resolution skills and be able to diplomatically handle confrontation.
- Work effectively alone or as part of a diverse team on tasks and projects.
