Virtua UK are a leading provider of communication and infrastructure services. Our service propositions are within the telecoms, broadcast, networking, and wireless industries.
As we continue to grow, the opportunities grow too. Due to our plans, we are looking for additional teams within our Civils Engineering Dept. This team will support Civils works in home counties and Southern England.
The Lead Operator (Ganger) role will work closely with the Head of Civils and Project Managers on FTTX projects. You will lead and mentor a team of 3, who will be flexible and can carry out the project tasks as directed by the Project Manager’s to assist with the success of the rollout.
The Groundworker Operator (2nd Man) role will work closely with the Lead Operative on FTTX projects.
The Labourer (3rd Man) role will work closely with the Lead Operative on FTTX projects.
Full training will be provided as part of the onboarding process (including PIA (Physical Infrastructure Access accreditations).
All equipment and PPE will be provided by Virtua UK.
Your team will consist of a Lead Operative, a General Operative (2nd Man), and Labourer (3rd Man). The team will be mainly working on existing infrastructure (PIA) and will need to have the ability to Test, Rod and Rope, install duct and reinstate up to surface course, modular, rigid, verge and box building. You will be responsible for ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all industry and company SHEQ standards.
**Role Description**:
- Flexibility to be able to adjust to the daily requirements of the project
Lead the team to complete Test, Rod & Roping, duct installation, reinstatement box building and more - Lead Operator
- Manage works in line with the Program - Lead Operator
- Maintain productivity objectives as set by the project Manager
- Manage the day-to-day health and safety on site - Lead Operator
- Conduct toolbox talks for the team - Lead Operator
Capture and document all changes to design and liaise with design and construction teams - Lead Operator
- Update daily and weekly reports, highlighting any risks that may have arisen to the project Manager - Lead Operator
Ensure all post installation works are documented as per project requirements - Lead Operator
- Maintain productivity as part of the team
- Ensure health and safety practices are carried out on site
- Support the Lead Operative that all post installation works are documented as per project requirements.
- Work collectively with the team to complete Test, Rod & Roping, duct installation
**3-5 years (Lead Operative) / 1-3 years (General Operative) of proven industry experience in**:
- Full clean driving license
- CSCS card holder
- NRSWA Supervisor accreditation (Unit 10) - Lead Operative only
- NRSWA Operative card All units (preferable)
- PIA infrastructure accreditations
**Experience (Lead Operative and General Operative)**:
- Test, Rod and Roping
- Installing ducts
- Reinstatement of Tarmac, Slabs, block paving, verges
- Experience with FTTH network deployment using the BT Openreach PIA
- Traffic management plan implementation - Lead Operative
- Working knowledge of council permitting processes -Lead Operative
