**Job description**:

- As our Head of Reward and Policy, you will undertake critical analysis of complex business practices, management of project work clearly communicate change/policy proposals (including their potential impacts to develop effective reward and policy strategies that reflect civil service policy and guidelines, legislation, the strategic needs of the UKHO and the wider political context).**Responsibilities**:
You’ll work with key stakeholders; developing strategic and influential relationships and work closely with the Head of HR Delivery and UKHO Transformation Board, to develop HR policy and support the delivery of the People function vision, aligning to UKHO’s strategic plans.

This is a key leadership and managerial role where you will have the opportunity to build capability and nurture talent, ensuring your small team of reward and policy specialists continues to deliver high quality outcomes across the challenging agenda, often within tight deadlines.

**Person Specification**

Essential:

- A successful track record of designing, developing, and embedding complex Reward or Capability strategies at large scale that reflect civil service pay policy, legislation, the current and future strategic needs of a civil service department and the wider political context we operate within.
- Excellent business case development skills with an ability to use data, insight, and evidence to influence and inform senior leaders.
- Having previously had a lead role in the development and delivery of annual pay awards (ideally in the Civil Service).
- Ability to navigate through complexity and ambiguity, with an understanding of the legal issues related to Reward.
- Confidence and credibility at Board level and in representing
- Ability to build trust-based relationships with a wide range of demanding and diverse senior stakeholders.
- Able to provide clear steers and expert advice on complex issues to senior stakeholders, including the Board and Directors, to influence and inform decision making.
- Experience of consulting and negotiating with Civil Service trade unions on reward matters.
- Ability to bring flexibility, curiosity and diverse perspectives into your work to drive innovation and achieve successful business outcomes.
- A project or programme management approach to strategy development with ownership for leading on the pay and reward agenda.
- Able to provide clear leadership, building capability and nurturing talent. Ensuring the team continues to deliver high quality outcomes across the challenging agenda, often within tight deadlines.
- MCIPD or the equivalent e.g. significant HR management experience

- Experience in implementing a capability, skills, or profession-led approach to pay progression.
