Apprentice Sewage Plant Operative in Waste Water

Binder Limited are a growing business and are looking for a trainee sewage plant operative to work on and operate our own in-house sewage treatment processing plant.
The role will include learning about all discharge, storage and processing of liquids, sludges, solids, oil etc. The maintenance, daily inspection and cleaning of process equipment and removal and removal/disposal of segregated waste. The control of visiting contractors discharging waste at the sewage treatment plant facility. The entry into tanks is controlled by confined space working procedures, which we expect a trainee to become qualified in, to a city and guilds level.
**Main Duties & Responsibilities**:
To follow procedures and carry out work in accordance with method statements
To check flows and record
To check final effluent flows and records
To check dissolved oxygen reading on tanks
To start the centrifuge
To set the pumps to achieve correct levels. Remove only clear liquor and discharge to the balance storage tanks and check levels during the day
To pump remaining sludge to the sludge holding tank and wash down walls
To drain the sludge
To take solids reading from each aeration tank daily
To maintain the oil separation plant
To prioritise work effectively
To communicate effectively with team
To attend team meetings
To understand your working procedures and ensure you keep up to date with company policy and procedures you are provided with
To attend training at the request of your Line Manager
**General**:
- At all times work safely, ensuring your own safety and that of others
- At all times work within all Company procedures and protocols
- Undertake other duties as reasonably requested by the Company.
**Required**:
- Eligible to work in the UK & hold a full UK driving licence.
- Prior technical knowledge on the working of sewage treatment plants
- Confined Space Entry Qualification
- Abrasive Wheel Qualification
- Current CSCS qualification
- Some form of electrical training
- Emergency First Aid at Work Qualification
- Clean Driving Licence.
