We have a track record of sustainability within our Landfill function, effectively restoring and repurposing our closed landfill sites for alternative uses, such as; renewable energy projects and high-quality habitats for plants and wildlife. Viridor has the second largest output of renewable power generation from landfill gas in the UK, with our extensive portfolio monitored and controlled via our state-of-the-art control room in Oxfordshire.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Landfill Operative to join our team in Masons, Ipswich, working 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The salary for this role will be circa £30,000 per year.

**About the role**

Reporting to the Site Supervisor, you will carry out a variety of manual and machine operating duties relating to the landfill, including the receiving and placing of waste delivered to the landfill facility. As a diligent and hard-working individual, you will ensure any maintenance or operation of the site’s plant and equipment is undertaken in accordance with the manufacturers and company’s instructions, with any defects or faults reported in the appropriate manner.

This is a varied and interesting role, where you will be exposed to many elements of the landfill function. This would include working with contractors on site, as well as creating and maintaining positive relationships with customers and site visitors. You'll be working as a member of a supportive team where you will also be briefed on risk assessments and safe operating procedures, which will be followed at all times.

At Viridor, we also have a diligent training programme to ensure that you are able to develop your skills and feel confident in your role.

**What are we looking for?**
- Knowledge of relevant plant and machinery used on landfills, including operation and maintenance knowledge.
- Experience in driving plant, such as: Tractors, Waste Compactors, Wheeled/Tracked Loading Shovel, Rollonoff, 25 Tonne ADT, 360 Excavator or 180 Excavator.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Positive attitude, along with good communication and team working abilities.
- Basic health and safety skills and knowledge.
- A recognised training certificate, such as: CITB/QPTC/Waste and Utilities Certificate/NPORS/CPCS.
