As Lead Delivery Driver they will also maintain and encourage open communication between the Drivers and the Transport Team to ensure smooth end-to-end running of the Home Delivery service provided to customers.

**Role**:

- Ensure when on site handover completed from day shift lead with any issues that warrant investigation.
- Hold debriefs with ALL drivers when they return to site.
- Check with the driver failed drops returned and collections which have been brought back
- Check the vehicle when brought back for any issues, damages concerns, arrange bookings with Garages.
- Activate the loading plan and ensure correct vehicles are assigned to routes.
- When WH are loading vehicles Lead needs to make sure the loading in done correctly in drop order
- Send messages to all drivers at a agreed time to ensure all drivers are in the following day
- Audit the routes on Descartes route by route looking at the pictures taken and ensuring the are to the agreed procedure.
- If route pictures are no satisfactory then document conversations need to be prepared for the head Lead Driver to follow through
- And insurance claims need to be completed and forms sent to Needham.
- Manage driver KPIs (e.g., fail rates) and use these, alongside regular one-to-one meetings, to drive high levels of performance creating individual Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) where necessary
- Organise cover for runs where required (e.g., in the instance of an unexpected absence)
- Maintain ongoing communication with the Transport Team ensuring key information (e.g., delayed / failed routes, unplanned driver absence etc.) is shared without delay
- Managing any complaints received via Customer Service, following company guidance, and implementing disciplinary procedures where appropriate
- Being on call and the main point of contact for all drivers
- Managing driver absence (e.g., holidays and sickness)

**Skills**:

- Ability to work with high levels of accuracy & meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage time effectively
- Approachable to members of the team and colleagues from other areas of the business
- Ability to manage a team through coaching and development
- Ability to work well under pressure and remain confident, patient, polite, tactful, and diplomatic when dealing with sensitive or difficult situations
- IT literate
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Clean Full UK Driving License for a 3.5-tonne Luton or sprinter type vehicle
- Confidence to suggest process improvements, allowing us to innovate and grow as an organisation
