StocktononTees, United Kingdom North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Are you looking for an opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of people with a swallowing and/or communication difficulty? Are you looking for chance to develop your clinical skills, working as part of a supportive team?

You will be a HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist, with experience of working with adults with acquired communication difficulties. You will ideally have experience working with swallowing disorders with post basic dysphagia competencies, or be working towards completion of this.

You will provide high quality, specialist assessment and treatment to adults with a range of acquired communication and swallowing disorders, with sessions available to work with a range of clinical conditions, including long term neurological conditions, dementia and stroke, in acute and community clinical settings.

You will work in a small, forward thinking adult speech and language therapy service that provides acute and community services across Stockton and Hartlepool localities.

At North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust our main priority is, and always will be, to provide safe and high quality care to our patients every day; the kind of care we would want for ourselves and our loved ones.

We want our organisation to be the best place to work with the right staff, in the right roles, at the right time, to ensure we deliver exceptional patient care and experience.

We will support staff through providing an inclusive and supportive workplace with health and well-being initiatives, staff benefits and opportunities for personal and professional development. Staff recognition is very important to us; as well as performance reviews and appraisals, we recognise staff through Star and Team of the month, colleague recognition - a note of thanks, Managers Awards, Shining Stars and Service Awards.

We actively encourage staff involvement with staff networking events and staff survey

“Together we are North Tees & Hartlepool”

You will provide high quality, evidence based assessment and treatment to adults with swallowing disorders and a range of communication disorders.

You will be able to plan, implement and evaluate individualised therapy plans to meet the needs of clients, with support as required from clinical lead therapists. We are keen to explore the option of group therapy session, and an interest in this would be an advantage.

You will be able to plan and deliver training and supervision to team members, other professionals, carers, volunteers etc, involved in the care of a patient, with support as required from the lead therapist.

This post will provide opportunities to develop specialist clinical skills, and opportunity to work with a range of clinical conditions.

We have a strong focus on support and supervision within our team. You will have access to regular 1:1 support from your line manager, group clinical supervision sessions, regular development reviews, and a yearly appraisal.

This role requires community working (including working in a patient's home, nursing or residential home), and therefore the ability to travel independently between venues in a short time scale is essential.

We would welcome informal visits to find out more about our team and the role. To find out more about this post, or to arrange an informal visit please contact Catherine Walker, Operational Lead for Adult Speech and Language Therapy on 01429 522471.
