Young Person Support Worker

Durham, United Kingdom The Protective Care Group Full time

As a Young Person Support Worker with us, you’ll play an integral role in helping our Group to deliver bespoke, tailor-made support services to the families of children or young adults with severe and complex needs.

You may come from the care sector and have worked in roles such as Care Assistant, Social Worker, Nursing Home Assistant, Care Coordinator, HCA, Mental Health Nurse, SEN teacher and many others, but are looking to take on a new role which will both challenge and reward you in equal measure.

You’ll be given all the training, tools and ongoing support that you’ll need to become a specialist in providing a level of support that local authorities are often unable to. This, coupled with working as part of a small team, will help you to coach and mentor young people to develop, grow and realise their ambitions.

**Our Young Person Support **Workers** have**:

- Have a minimum of 12 months employed or lived experience working with adults or young people with complex needs.
- Have knowledge around safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Are skilled in reporting writing and accurately recording events.
- Already hold or are willing to work towards achieving Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
- Have a full UK driving licence and comfortable travelling for work.
- Are happy to work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, which includes a combination of working days and nights and overnight stays.
- Ideally are familiar with CQC and OFSTED regulations.
- The ability to be patient whilst showing empathy.

As a Young Person Support Worker you’ll work with very complex young people who often display extreme behaviours, these include but are not limited to: severe aggression, biting, punching, verbal abuse, sexualized behaviours, self-harm and absconding. Due to this, physical restraint can be involved, you’ll need to be fit and are not fazed by aggression.

**What we can offer**:

- Genuine career progression into our leadership team.
- Full support to help you achieve Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
- Full support to help you achieve Level 5 in Leadership & Management.
- Lots of other training courses and annual refresher training to help you do your role well.
- Group and one to one supervision.
- Regular appraisals.
- Generous salaries.
- Paid holiday.
- Company pension scheme.

Our recruitment process will be supportive, informative, thorough and hopefully enjoyable If selected, you’ll have a first stage telephone interview, a second stage interview over Microsoft Teams then if successful at that point, we’ll invite you to our activity & assessment day held here at our offices in the Cotswolds. Plus, we’ll cover your costs for travel and an overnight stay.
