User Experience Designer

7 months ago

Marlborough, United Kingdom AM Full time

Are you a dynamic UX Designer with a passion for fulfilling complex user needs through great design?

If you’re looking for an opportunity to utilise your skills in an Agile organisation and influence a young platform at a critical stage of development, then this could be the role for you. It’s an excellent opportunity for the right person to help build user experience capabilities within AM.

**The opportunity**

As a UX Designer, you will be responsible for creating great user experiences for AM Quartex and related platforms; undertaking user research, analysing user pathways, and preparing wireframes for new product features and to improve existing interfaces. You will work closely with our Product and Engineering teams to deliver exceptional experiences, and support colleagues in other departments with the design decisions they make, especially for our own published collections.

Together with our existing UX Designer, you will be instrumental in growing user experience as a business function, and will set the standard for UX research, design and delivery across the company.

**About you**

We are looking for a driven individual who can work both independently and closely with another UX Designer, whilst maintaining strong collaborative relationships with non-design colleagues.

You will appreciate the needs of users of digital archival content, including librarians, students, researchers and academic teaching faculty, and demonstrate exceptional creative talent for translating intricate challenges into simple, effective user journeys.

**To be successful in this role, you will need**:

- a proven track record in a user experience role, with a portfolio of work that demonstrates familiarity with front-end websites, responsive design, the latest accessibility standards and administrative tools and interfaces;
- demonstrable experience conducting qualitative and quantitative user research activities;
- strong communication skills, able to build robust relationships with stakeholders and discuss users’ needs in a friendly, knowledgeable and engaging fashion;
- good analytical skills, able to interrogate and interpret information, and identify improvements to weak user pathways; and
- experience working with product and software development teams, preferably in an Agile environment.

**We will offer you in return**:
A highly competitive salary (reviewed annually), and the opportunity to continuously grow and develop your career. We take great pride in upskilling and promoting our employees.

A flexible working environment where you can plan your week to allow for work-life balance and that will allow you to work from home, with occasional attendance to the office.

An excellent range of benefits, to include:

- A generous annual bonus scheme
- 25 days’ annual leave incrementally increasing to 30 days with the opportunity to purchase or sell annual leave
- Life Assurance cover offering payment of four times your annual basic salary
- A day’s volunteering with a charity of your choice at full pay and a charity fund matching scheme
- Private Health Insurance, a Health Cash Plan and Employee Assistance Programme
- Health and Wellbeing benefits to include online fitness classes and corporate massages
- A Mobile Phone Allowance and Working from Home Stipend
- A pension scheme with a 5% employer contribution

Finally, an innovative, progressive and fast-paced, inclusive, fun team environment with many social activities and a focus on health and wellbeing where you can work as part of a brilliant team, enjoy your work and be rewarded for it
