We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Engagement Consultant to join our Highways team, based in Glasgow or Edinburgh. You’ll be joining our team of experts across the active travel, behaviour change and engagement, social value, urban design, transport planning and civil engineering disciplines, committed to ensuring that communities are at the heart of what we do.

We are seeing a growing pipeline of local authority projects across Scotland and the UK- from high profile urban realm to community regeneration, neighbourhood and route schemes. Working collaboratively with our delivery teams, you will support the communication, consultation, and engagement element of our work and act as a trusted client advisor. This role will network with our wider Behaviour Change and Engagement capability in the UK.

The role is to be based at our office in Glasgow or Edinburgh, with regular travel to other offices and project locations across Scotland expected.

Interviews are expected to happen in mid May with job posting closing on 17th April.

**Responsibilities**:

- Supporting the planning, delivering, and evaluating of engagement activities that bring communities together to identify and develop opportunities for urban environments.
- Undertaking community and stakeholder research.
- Developing project specific engagement and communication plans.
- Designing and distributing promotional content to encourage and generate local interest and involvement.
- Organising and facilitating online and in person stakeholder and community engagement.
- Attending and co-ordinating workshops, events, and conferences on behalf of Atkins.
- Participating in Client and project meetings.
- Communicating with stakeholders and communities on projects.
- Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with residents, community groups, businesses, and key stakeholders to support wider project objectives.
- Supporting wider business development activities.
- Working as part of our multi-disciplinary teams delivering a range of similar projects with Clients across the UK
- Assisting with staff training.

**Requirements**:

- Experience in communication, engagement, and/or event management.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong team player with a proactive attitude.
- An ability to adapt to varied workloads within a fast-changing environment.
- An ability to develop productive working relationships with a wide range of Clients, individuals, and organisations.
- The ability to plan and support effective and innovative engagement activities.
- A dynamic and creative approach to communicating, engaging and problem solving.
- An ability to analyse quantitative and qualitative data, drawing out key conclusions.
- Awareness of seldom heard groups.
- Knowledge of the National Standards for Community Engagement and other related industry good practice.
