As Regional Programmes Lead working across the Cancer Alliance - East of England the post holder will undertake a specific role with responsibilities aligned to the following geographical areas: Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Suffolk and North East Essex Norfolk and Waveney Mid & South Essex Hertfordshire & West Essex Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Key Duties and Responsibilities Plan, deliver and evaluate regional programmes related (but not exclusively) to Health Inequalities, Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement and Communications, using relevant project management tools, report and templates that are transferable between projects and can be used for the whole project lifetime thereby supporting sustainable continuous improvement. Work with the Assistant Director and Programme Management and Business Office Manager on financial aspects of Cancer Alliance and ICB work Be a champion for best practice, learning from experience and from others, supporting the spread of learning outcomes, best practice and innovation. Ensure the appropriate use of robust, information systems to ensure that all project documentation is stored and used effectively (PID, dashboards, highlight reports, evaluation, benefits realisation, risk and issues logs etc). To act as a champion for cancer patients and their interests and ensure appropriate involvement of the public and patients in the work of the Cancer Alliance.

Analysis & Judgement Demonstrate a flexible approach to the development and delivery of programmes where necessary. Interrogate and analyse, sometimes highly complex and contentious, information to support the delivery of clear project reporting and project outcomes. Write and submit regular high-level programme reports showing progress against milestones, status, resource requirements, issues, risks and dependencies, making recommendations where a range of options may exist. Develop key performance indicators and milestones for specific programmes and projects, managing conflicts and ensuring that interdependencies are managed effectively.

Communicate highly complex, sensitive and contentious information to wide range of audiences, including in public and local consultations where there may be hostile/antagonistic audiences. Financial Management Hold budgetary responsibility where appropriate for specific regional programmes. Constantly strive for value for money and greater efficiency in the use of budgets and to ensure that they operate in recurrent financial balance year on year. People Management Responsible for recruitment of new team members.

Responsible for undertaking appraisal and personal development of team members. Build a collaborative working environment and innovative culture. Research & Development Advise on innovative opportunities and support the Cancer Alliance and key stakeholders in their strategies and programmes to maximise service improvements leading to positive patient outcomes. Policy & Service Development Contribute to the development of strategic processes and polices that support the embedding of project management philosophy within the wider organisation and across health and social care.

To work with staff, providers, commissioners, Health Education England and Public Health in ensuring and improving the provision of high quality, safe, people-centred services and partnerships with Local Authorities, service providers, patients and the public across all six ICS areas. To support and assure the delivery and implementation of the NHS Cancer Strategy and the Long-Term Plan relevant to cancer outcomes. Support development of and assure management of regional plans working closely with, and supporting, Alliance teams, regional colleagues, commissioners and providers. To manage, monitor and report on benefits realisation of all regional programmes and resources.

Tracking the progress and ensuring that the intended benefits are achieved with outcomes maximised. Identify positive interventions and initiatives aligned to patient and public involvement and engagement; health inequalities and communications and disseminate across the Alliance. Identify and take relevant action related to risks and issues through routine information monitoring and data analysis. Manage and actively promote strong, credible relationships with key stakeholders.

Defining and managing reporting requirements, including format and frequency; manages the process of compiling and distributing reports. Key Relationships (External and Internal) To build and maintain good working relationships with a broad range of external and internal stakeholders in a range of business sensitive issues including; ICSs; ICBs, Providers; acute hospitals, primary care and Local Authorities Health Education England and Public Health England Cancer Charities and third sector organisations Patient Forums and Groups
