If so, joining our Clerk to Governing Bodies role will be the perfect one for you

High quality professional clerking is crucial to the effective functioning of the board. Clerking is not only about good organisation and administration, but also, and more importantly, about helping the board understand its role, functions and legal duties. This is crucial in helping the board exercise its functions expediently and confidently, so that it can stay focused on its core functions.

You will be working with a strong, professional team which is committed to enhancing the life chances of pupils and their families across the Wakefield District and beyond. While you will be employed on a casual basis, our Governing Board meetings are agreed a year in advance therefore work will be allocated dependent on location, availability and flexibility.

Duties will include:

- providing accurate, objective and detailed advice to Governors on a wide range of specialist and often complex matters, including the legal responsibilities, constitutional arrangements and procedures relating to Governing Boards, current issues facing schools/academies and governing boards and recommended responses and relevant good practice;
- providing clear, accurate, prompt and thorough minutes of the meeting, in line with legal requirements and expectations such as Ofsted inspections and Schools Financial legislation.

If you meet these requirements then we want to hear from you. Previous experience of clerking meetings is desirable although relevant and ongoing training will be provided.
