We have a highly rewarding opportunity as a Rehabilitation Officer (Visual Impairment) working with some of the most vulnerable and challenging service users with a focus on promoting their independence and confidence.

You’ll be expected to receive and coordinate referrals, undertake Specialist Sensory assessments (including complex cases), as well as other assessments such as Carers and Mental Capacity Assessment.

An important part of this role will involve you providing rehabilitation for mobility and independent living skills for adults and/or children with a visual impairment and where appropriate undertake tasks involved in support planning and review.

You’ll take the lead on coaching and mentoring Outreach Workers or Social Care Assessors who are undertaking assessments, support planning and review tasks.

You will be joining a highly motivated and supportive team delivering Sensory Services across our diverse town.

**About you**:
You will need post qualifying experience in the field of rehabilitation of visually impaired and deafblind people

You must have experience of working work with complex and challenging cases - with access to support and supervision

You must be able to work as part of a team and meet strict deadlines and targets and manage/implement change.

In depth knowledge and understanding of social care legislation.

It is vital that you have a Dip HE in Visual Rehabilitation studies or degree (At least Level 5 lasting 2 years full time or equivalent if completed part time, or if qualifying prior to the 2 year course)
