Manor Park, United Kingdom Headstart Education Centre Full time

Must have L3 in childcare and GCSE in English and maths or equivalent.

Overall objectives of the post
- To create a welcoming, friendly and supportive atmosphere for the parents, carers and children at Headstart.
- To plan, facilitate and evaluate an exciting programmer of education, play and developmental opportunities and activities for children based on the EYFS curriculum and the Islamic Ethos of the Centre.
- To work with colleagues to create an environment which ensures physical, social, emotional and moral development of children

**Duties and Responsibilities**

**Learning and Development**

1. To take responsibility for a key group of children

2. To develop, plan, facilitate and evaluate daily, weekly, mid-term and long term provision.

3. Planning and preparing children’s activities, according to age, ability and aptitude and submitting plans and resources by deadlines.

4. To differentiate planning and delivery to meet the different needs of the group.

5. To be involved with the children in their activities helping to stimulate, encourage and to extend learning activities through play, talk and exploration.

6. To be aware of and plan for children with special needs including physical disabilities, behavioral and learning difficulties and to help ensure an atmosphere in which children with these needs are valued and respected.

7. To contribute to written observations and records.

8. To be flexible within working practices of the setting, undertaking other responsible duties such as domestic tasks, preparation of snack/ lunch meals, cleansing of equipment, changing nappies/ cloths of children.

**Health and welfare**

1. To organize healthy refreshments for all children.

2. To ensure child protection procedures are followed at all times

3. To report health and safety concerns to the Deputy immediately and seek advice.

4. To provide personal care needs to children eg clean soiled children, vomit or comfort unwell children

**Organisation and Record keeping**

1. Orderly upkeep of key group profiles/ special book, communication records and other assessment and reporting arrangements. e.g. report writing, registers, session records accident spreadsheet/books etc.

2. Provide verbal and written reports to manager and parents as necessary,

3. Keep all working areas clutter free; no excess papers to be accumulated in provision areas, cupboards or folders

4. To ensure the accurate maintenance and safe storage of records

**Policies and Procedures**

5. To read, understand and comply with all policies and procedures of the setting

6. Take responsibility for the health and welfare of all children by actively preventing hazards, assessing all equipment, resources and areas before use by yourself or children as ongoing risk assessment

7. To use a high degree of initiative, tact and discretion when giving or receiving information, which could be confidential.

8. To adhere to equal opportunities/inclusion policy
Team Work Outreach and Networking
1. To support colleagues as part of a team on a daily basis

2. To take lead responsibility when deputy is not present if asked to do so.

3. To provide supervision and support to early years workers and volunteers

4. Maintain good liaison and communication with all you come into contact, in order to ensure proper flow of information.

5. Be flexible in emergencies and absences and cover absent staff as needed

6. Appropriately ask for help when needed and in good time

7. To help manage the day to day running and supervise learners/students.

8. To build positive relationships with each child and their families

9. To communicate with children, parents, outside agencies and colleagues in a professional manner

10. To build links, partnerships and mutually supportive relationships with local Health Visitors and other relevant individuals/ groups in order to increase access to support for families

11. Accompany outing and park supervision as needed

12. Be on break and lunch duty as per rota, setting out equipment for outdoor play as needed

13. To organise/supervise during trips, events as needed

**Equipment and Resources.**

1. To be responsible for the preparation and packing away of activities.

2. Use log in and out systems diligently and to log in and out resources according to the systems in place

3. To be responsible for the maintenance of toys and equipment and report items which have been damaged/ broken to the Deputy Manager without delay

4. Help build up a suitable collection of necessary resources, making own resources as needed

**General**

5. To attend team meetings, briefings and de
- briefing sessions and occasional away days and training days.

6. Participate in events in the nursery and life of the centre eg fundraising events

7. To display Islamic adaahb and akhlaaq at all times and to role model this to the children

8. Homework is provided weekly and marked as per marking policy (reception)
