**Job summary**:
The UK Supreme Court is a small non-ministerial government department led by a Chief Executive who is also the Accounting Officer. The Court continues to build on its reputation built on public access, transparency and impartiality.

The role of Registry Support Officer is vital in supporting Court users and staff, ensuring cases run smoothly and that the Justices have the correct papers before each appeal hearing.

**Job description**:
As **Registry Support Officer**, the postholder is a key member of the team and supports the Registry Case Managers by:

- Preparing and distributing paper and electronic hearing bundles across the Court
- Ushering in Court as required
- Recording details of appeals on the case management system
- Lodging appeal papers and dealing with any associated queries from parties, lawyers and other Court users in relation to Court procedures
- Allocating bench memos to Judicial Assistants
- Providing postal and messenger services
- Showing flexibility to assess different priorities each day depending on the hearings listed and the needs of the Justices
- Taking payments over the phone for court fees
- Diary management for the Registrar
- Taking minutes in meetings
- Providing support to the Judicial Assistants as required
- Performing other tasks as delegated by the Registry Operations Manager or Registrars to assist Registry and other areas of the Court
- Engaging with the Change Programme to support the Court’s objective to be a world leading Court, including user testing of new software.

**Person specification**:
Essential criteria:

- Excellent understanding and experience of customer service
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working with people at all levels
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office. Either experience of CRM/Dynamics or a willingness to learn.
- Adaptable and willing to change priorities as required
- Commitment to the Court’s Code of Conduct and the Civil Service Code of Conduct

Desirable criteria:

- Knowledge and understanding of the Court system in the United Kingdom
- Experience working with members of the Judiciary and in a court setting
- Familiarity preparing complex court bundles or paperwork
- Understanding of the Rules and Practice Directions of the UKSC and JCPC
